Range Manager

Firearms sales experience is preferred: Firearms-focused customer service, selling skills, knowledge of firearms, and meeting required paperwork standards. Follow state, federal, and company guidelines.

 

Outdoor sports store sales: Experienced in using and willing to learn how to sell fishing and recreational sit-on-top kayaks and kayak accessories.

 

Retail store (not just cashier) experience is required

Pay:

  • $12 to $15 per hour

  • Customer Service Bonuses (every paycheck)

  • Year End Bonus

  • Bi-weekly payroll

Job Types:

  • Full-time - four or five days, 35 to 45 hours (overtime paid)

  • Part-time - less than 35 hours

Schedule:

  • Flexible schedules

  • Closed Sundays

  • Monday to Friday, 9:45 am to 6:15 pm

  • Saturday, 9 am to 6:15

  • Closed New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Easter, Independence Day, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

  • We occasionally have special events like the East Tennessee Fishing Show and Expo, kayak demo days, shooting matches, and sales events that require extended hours.

Essential Functions:

  • Greet all customers who come into the store.

  • Assist customers with purchasing decisions on guns, gun needs, fishing kayaks, and kayak accessories

  • Ring up sales

  • Price and merchandise products, stock shelves, and maintain attractive displays

  • Assist with inventories

  • Practice sound safety knowledge & best practices

  • Help to keep a clean and organized store

  • Use a point-of-sale computer, email computer, telephone, copy and fax machines, and calculator

  • Use social media to respond to customers and post about store products and activities

Qualifications:

  • Legal to own and purchase firearms

  • Clean criminal background (needed to work in a gun store)

  • Not a user of marijuana (medical or otherwise) or any other illegal substance

  • Ability to work independently without supervision

  • Ability to use the in-store computers and wireless handheld units

  • Ability to complete computer-based training

  • Be drug-free

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including Saturdays

  • Physical Requirements Good reading and writing skills Ability to use manual and electric hand tools

  • Good close vision for work with products and computer

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods

  • Ability to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 20 pounds repetitively and 31-50 pounds intermittently

  • Frequently stoop, crouch, use fingers, grasp, push, pull, talk, hear, and lift

  • They are occasionally required to lift, with a partner, kayaks weighing up to 100 lbs.

$23.33 per hour to $70.00 per hour (based on the number of students in attendance)

We are looking to sign on NRA Certified Instructor Contractors capable of teaching our Basic Handgun Safety/Concealed Weapons License Class (not the NRA version, but the very popular class we have developed), the Tennessee Enhanced Carry Permit classes, and private instruction.

 

We usually hold our four-hour classes on Saturday mornings and afternoons, on weekdays in the afternoons or evenings, and Sunday afternoons.  We also teach the Tennessee Enhanced Handgun Carry Permit course, which is eight hours.

 

Contractor Firearms Instructors usually teach two monthly classes but may teach more if so desired.

Depending upon class size (students attending), pay is $23.33 per hour to $70.00 per hour (based on the number of students in attendance).

Naturally, promoting the classes results in more students attending, resulting in more pay for the instructor.  Our four-hour classes currently cap out at ten students each, and our Enhanced Carry Permit classes cap out at 35 students.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

This position is significant to the mission of Frontier Firearms USA to develop responsible gun owners by offering firearms, education, and a welcoming environment for people of all experience levels.  Additionally, instructors must provide outstanding customer service dedicated to exceeding customer expectations through Frontier Firearms USA courses.

CONTRACT DESCRIPTION:

To be a Frontier Firearms USA Firearms Instructor Contractor requires a comprehensive knowledge of all firearms, appropriate shooting techniques and instruction methods, and the ability to inspect and maintain firearms.

The responsibilities and essential duties performed by Firearms Instructor Contractors include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide firearms training and qualification for students.

  • Provide personal instruction to include remedial instruction.

  • Independently conduct training sessions,

  • Help generate new students/customers.

    • Operate, demonstrate, and provide instruction on firearms, including shotguns, handguns, and rifles.

    • Conduct inspections of student firearms, including handguns, shotguns & rifles.

    • Know and adhere to all Local, State, and Federal regulations applicable to firearms.

  • Effectively operate the TNTAP Handgun Instructor Data Entry system.

  • Greet customers and facilitate the customer experience.

  • Provide outstanding customer service dedicated to exceeding customer expectations and fostering lasting relationships.

  • Answer customer questions regarding all classes

  • Promote class attendance and encourage new students to sign up for classes

  • Utilize the Eventbrite class registration program

  • Ensure all proper firearm safety rules are followed

  • Instruct students in concealed carry and enhanced handgun carry license classes.

  • Instruct students in basic handgun classes

  • Instruct students in private lessons

  • Engage and instruct students in a safe and entertaining manner

  • Maintain store relationships in a positive manner

  • Present sponsored products in a positive and informative manner

  • Maintain a safe, clean classroom environment

  • Maintain a safe, clean range environment

  • Follow the established Firearms Contract Instructor dress code.

 

MINIMUM SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Must be 21 years of age or older

  • Must have one year or more concealed carry instruction experience

  • Must have one year or more of firearms safety and handling instruction experience

  • Must hold current NRA Basic Pistol Instructor or NRA Law Enforcement Pistol Instructor certification

  • Must be a current NRA Range Safety Officer

  • Must have superior firearms safety knowledge

  • Must meet all applicable State firearms training certification requirements, including holding the Tennessee Handgun Instructor certification

  • Possess a Tennessee Enhanced Handgun Carry Permit

  • Other military and law enforcement, as well as legal backgrounds, are preferred.

  • Skills in advanced firearms, tactical training, and tactical medical or non-lethal defense instruction are preferred.

  • The ability to safely run an indoor multi-lane shooting range

  • Must have, or be willing to obtain, firearms instructor insurance with at least $1MM per incident / $1MM in aggregate coverage

  • Must have the ability to understand, recall and follow complex compliance regulations and the ability to work with highly confidential information.

  • Must have strong, engaging public speaking skills

  • Must have an approachable and friendly demeanor

  • Must have the ability to follow lesson plans,

  • Must have the ability to operate a laptop computer for PowerPoint presentations

  • Communicate with customers to ensure they are satisfied, and their needs met.

  • Must be able to control a classroom environment safely

  • Must be able to set and re-set classroom equipment, documentation, and technology, ensuring that the classroom is set and prepped before students’ arrival.  The classroom area should be clean, paperwork on tables, all technology up and running, training aids out and ready, and NO live ammo or loaded firearms in the room during instruction.  After class, the area must be left in a ready state for the next course scheduled.

  • While performing the duties of this job Firearms Instructor Contractors are regularly required to stand, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate firearms, training kits, and range equipment.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include both close and far vision requirements.

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds over their head

  • First aid and CPR certification are preferred

  • Must have availability to teach a flexible schedule of firearms classes, including:

    • Weeknights,

    • Weekdays,

    • Saturdays,

    • Or Sundays
